LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – After a much-anticipated snowstorm on Mount Charleston, skiers and snowboarders from the valley were up early Saturday to catch the fresh powder at Lee Canyon.

“This season has started off very slow, so it feels like winter showed up this week, and we’re here for it,” said Lee Canyon Marketing Director Johnny Degeorge.

“It’s late into February, but the stoke is high, everyone is having a good time, the vibes are just immaculate,” said Las Vegas resident Putumn Wagymer.

The slow season is finally over at Lee Canyon Ski Resort.

A winter storm brought 35 inches of fresh powder to the mountain.

On Saturday, the skiers and boarders from Las Vegas showed up, ready to shred.

“Conditions here are prime,” said Wagymer. “We just got one full day of snowfall, and then a little extra last night, a little surprise, so the snow is still fresh, still good, and we’re still wrapping it and shredding it all day long, baby!”

“I try to come up here every weekend if I can. I’ve been up here since the beginning of the season. This is so much better compared to what it started out as,” said another skier.

Also, as of this weekend, the Sherwood chairlift was back in action at Lee Canyon.

“Winter just got saved this season!” said a skier. “They’re opening up all the runs. Lee Canyon’s about to be 100% opened up. Everybody’s really stoked, I’m stoked, and the vibe around this whole mountain, everybody’s happy.”

The ski resort staff say the last two seasons have been snow-packed, but this year had them worried—until now.

“This storm set us up very well. I feel like our foundation is in place now, so we’ll be able to offer amazing skiing and snowboarding here for several weeks to come,” said Degeorge.
