LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Clark County School District Police officer pleaded not guilty after a K-9 died likely from heat-related issues.
54-year-old James Harris faces misdemeanor charges for failing to care for K9 Marley.
Tuesday, Harris pleaded not guilty. Negotiations in the case start April 23 at 9 a.m. in Las Vegas Justice Court.
According to an affidavit obtained by FOX5, Marley was left inside a hot patrol vehicle for over six hours at Foothill High School on Nov. 14. He died the same day.
Harris allegedly admitted he did not check on the dog all day. The K9 was left inside the vehicle without any water or restroom breaks.
When Harris came back to the vehicle, he moved to a different spot before calling in assistance for Marley.
