LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The man responsible for the 2022 deadly stabbing on the Las Vegas Strip was sentenced Tuesday morning.
District Court Judge Tierra Jones sentenced Barrios to two consecutive life sentences related to multiple felony murder charges.
Yoni Barrios went on a stabbing rampage, killing two people and injuring six others near the Wynn on October 6, 2022. Parts of the attack were caught on surveillance video. Strip showgirl impersonators and tourists were among the victims.
With the help of security staff on the Strip, police were able to move quickly by taking Barrios into custody.
In early January, Barrios originally pleaded not guilty to the charges but then later changed his plea to guilty to all 15 charges.
Barrios was found not competent for trial in December 2022 and committed to a hospital. He spent nearly two years in treatment.
