LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas cake shop employee is speaking out after she said she was attacked by a customer over a disagreement involving a custom cake topper – and the entire incident was caught on surveillance video.
The employee, who asked to remain anonymous, told FOX5 it happened on March 22 while she was working alone at a valley cake shop. She said the customer became upset after seeing the size of the custom cake topper she ordered.
“She had her dog with her and her daughter, and I told her that there was no pets allowed in the shop, she was visibly upset,” she said.
The employee said the customer became increasingly agitated over the cake topper size. Moments later, the two ended up on the ground. Surveillance footage reviewed by FOX5 shows the customer and the employee violently fighting while the woman’s daughter and dog looked on.
“I remember just hearing her daughter scream, and as I was getting punched, I tell her, like, ‘you’re doing this in front of your kid’ and that’s when she yelled out ‘it’s OK’.”
The employee said she suffered a bump on her head and whiplash. She missed several days of work and later went to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with neck strain and hematoma.
“He said a hematoma, like a bump on my head from where she punched me over and over again on the top of my head.”
The employee filed a police report and said she is pressing charges against the customer. FOX 5 reached out to Las Vegas Metro Police, they said this is still an ongoing investigation and no citation has been issued – but they are actively looking for the customer.
The employee has since left the cake shop, saying she no longer feels safe. But perhaps the most painful blow, she said, is that the woman who attacked her still hasn’t been found.
“Justice would just be for her to be held accountable for what she did, jail time, I don’t know, fees, I mean, I missed three days of work,” she said. “That’s just not OK, and she left without her topper that she came in for that she complained about.”
Metro police said if caught, the woman could face misdemeanor battery charges, they urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
