LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – With the days to go before Nevada’s first presidential primary, and the state Republican party’s traditional caucuses, it’s clear campaign season has kicked off in southern Nevada.
Last weekend witnessed dueling campaign rallies from the presumed sides of both tickets and now FOX5 has learned President Joe Biden will make a stop in the Valley on Friday.
Nevada is definitely seen as a battleground state. In 2020, President Biden won with a little more than 50% of the vote. That makes it anyone’s race to win.
“As the dear, late great Harry Reid, reminded us, if you can win in Nevada you can win anywhere,” Vice President Kamala Harris told a crowd Saturday at a campaign event with Representative Steven Horsford, (D-Nevada). “Nevada truly is a reflection of America, and that is why you are the first primary state in the West.”
On Saturday, Vice President Harris, and former President Donald Trump both held events in the Valley.
While Harris thanked supporters for a 2020 victory, Trump urged his supporters to make their caucus count and give him a win.
“Remember this we all call it a primary, but I like calling it a caucus, it really is. Your primary doesn’t really mean anything, it’s your caucus. In your state, you have both a primary and a caucus. Don’t worry about the primary, just do the caucus thing.”
Trump is currently the only candidate running in the caucus. All of his competitors have dropped their campaigns.
