LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Las Vegas man is accused of fatally shooting his mother and critically wounding his sister after claiming to police that he had remembered past abuse, according to an arrest report released Monday.

The details disclosed in the arrest report may be considered disturbing by some, and reader discretion is advised.

According to the arrest report, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department dispatchers received a call saying that Jacob Lister, the caller’s husband’s former co-worker, had called for help. She told dispatchers that Lister said he had shot his mother and sister and was still with her husband in his vehicle.

When officers arrived, they found Jacob Lister’s mother, Deborah Lister, and his sister, Ashton Lister, shot in the head, lying on the floor of a hallway, the report indicated. Deborah was pronounced dead at the scene, while Ashton was taken to a hospital.

“Doctors advised that Ashton’s prognosis is poor, with minimal brain function,” the report said.

While securing the scene, officers found the vehicle near the intersection of Blue Diamond Road and Buffalo Drive, the report said. Officers performed a vehicle stop, and Lister was taken into custody without incident just over an hour after the initial call.

Lister told police that he lived with his mother and sister, and that his father had moved out three years earlier, police documents said.

“Throughout the interview, Jacob expressed paranoid ideations and claimed that his phone was bugged and he was being set up by the government, police and the IRS,” the report said.

Lister told police he had been repeatedly sexually abused and assaulted by different family members throughout his life, according to the report. He said he woke up Sunday remembering the abuse and paced the house until his mother and sister arrived home from a funeral in Arizona.

When they arrived, he said he confronted his sister about the abuse, pointing a handgun at her, the report said. During the incident, he claimed his mother attempted to grab the gun, and he shot her in the head. His sister rushed to her mother, and Lister said he shot her in the head as well.

“He admitted to detectives he then shot them both one more time to end it,” the report said.

Lister told police he put the dogs on the other side of the house and placed the gun on the kitchen counter before calling the co-worker to come over, the report said. He asked the co-worker to take him to a casino to find an employee, he said, who had stopped him from being sexually assaulted as a baby.

Lister told police that if his father had been at the house, he would have “killed him without hesitation,” the report said. Lister denied ever being diagnosed with a mental illness, admitted to smoking marijuana but denied recent drug use. He claimed to have AIDS but said he had never been formally diagnosed.

Lister faces charges of open murder and attempted murder. He is being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
