LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Boulder City will have a new fire chief starting in August, a news release announced Wednesday.
In a news release from the office of the city manager for Boulder City, it was announced that Kenneth Morgan would take the helm as the new fire chief.
According to the release, Morgan has 40 years of experience in fire service. Over that time, he served as a firefighter, engineer, captain, battalion chief, deputy fire chief and chief. He spent 23 years with the Clark County Fire Department before becoming fire chief in Meriden, Connecticut.
“It was a very tight competition between the top candidates,” City Manager Ned Thomas said. “Chief Morgan’s decades of experience in Clark County and as a local fire chief and department administrator stood out to me as especially beneficial for the department.”
For his part, Morgan called Boulder City a close-knit community that presents different challenges.
“I practice an adaptive leadership style because I believe no single approach fits every situation. I value the participative elements of leadership, drawing on the creativity and experience of department members,” Morgan said. “Involving them in decision-making helps shape the direction of the department, especially during times of inevitable change.”
He is poised to take over from former Chief Will Gray, who departed in April 2024. Thomas expressed appreciation to Acting Chief Greg Chesser, who led the department for 16 months in the interim.
“I am grateful that he has expressed his commitment to helping Chief Morgan transition smoothly into the culture and community of Boulder City,” Thomas said.
Morgan will begin his tenure as Boulder City fire chief on Aug. 4.
