LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Golden Gate Hotel and Casino has said goodbye to its dancing dealers as its CEO says the property is looking to the future.
“Today’s the day where we begin the change to the new era of the Golden Gate,” said Derek Stevens, CEO of the Las Vegas landmark and oldest casino in the entertainment capital of the world.
“The Golden Gate … has evolved quite a bit over the years,” he said. “When I first came to Vegas, we brought dancing dealers as a new concept, and it’s run great ever since we bought it in 2008.”
The dancing dealers were present at table games in the casino, “adding another level to the gaming action,” according to a video promoting the concept.
“We’re not just dealers, we’re entertainers,” the promotional video said. The concept spread from Golden Gate to Circa Las Vegas and the D, all Stevens’ properties.
In August, it was announced that Golden Gate would remove all live dealers, shifting attention to electronic table games. Stevens reiterated that no one would be losing a job.
“Every dealer, every supervisor, every single person in our table games division has a job either at Circa or the D,” Stevens said. “No one is losing a job.”
Stevens said the change reflects what he sees consumers enjoying — electronic table games and new slot machines.

“We’re going to be bringing in quite a few new slot machines, electronic table games,” he said. “Effectively, what we’re doing is we’re going to try to throw a high-energy party, which is kind of what we’re known for.”
Stevens said the new slot machines and table games will populate the casino floor in September alongside a new campaign, “The Night Starts Here.” He said to expect an “unbelievable, bucket list-style” party every night, describing the gaming options as “speakeasy-style.”
The new concept launches Sept. 19.
