Las Vegas hospitality workers compete in 35th annual ‘Housekeeping Olympics’

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The 35th Anniversary of the ‘Housekeeping Olympics’ was held in Las Vegas Monday night.

According to a release by MGM Resorts, hospitality workers from across the valley gathered to showcase their skills in a series of spirited challenges.

The event took place at the Michelob Ultra Arena, where nine teams competed, pushing their abilities to the next level. Teams competed in a vacuum race, where housekeepers rode vacuums to clear the track in record time. They also demonstrated their efficiency and teamwork in a mop relay, bed-making competition, and tucking sheets relay.

Officials say the Housekeeping Olympics is a vibrant celebration, honoring the dedicated individuals who meticulously care for guests every single day.

“They are the lifeline… they bring the guest experience to life every single day. So it’s a great opportunity to take a step back and recognize the employees for all the work that they do,” said Andy Meese, General Manager of Park MGM.

While no single team swept the competition, Resorts World, Aria, and V-dara placed on the podium in nearly all events, according to a release. Ultimately, Aria and V-dara emerged as the overall winners of the 35th Annual Housekeeping Olympics.
