Las Vegas pilots picket over Allegiant Airlines contract negotiations

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Allegiant Airlines pilots with Teamsters Local 2118 picketed at the airline’s headquarters today.

The airline pilots held a picket Tuesday at 22 crew bases around the country, saying that they want a contract that “values their contributions and provides industry-standard compensation,” according to a news release from the Teamsters.

The two sides are currently negotiating a new contract. Allegiant is offering an immediate 50-percent average increase in hourly wages, rising to 70-percent over the next five years. The pilots said their pay would still be lower than that of pilots at other airlines. They say some pilots have been forced to pick upside jobs just to make ends meet.

Allegiant Airlines responded to the picket, saying it is currently in negotiations with the Teamsters to finalize an agreement.

“Allegiant has offered a competitive package – including an immediate 50% average increase in hourly wages that scales to 70% over 5 years,” Allegiant officials said, noting that IBT Local 2118 changed its negotiating team multiple times, which they said has “impacted the negotiating process.”

“Allegiant remains steadfast in its commitment to working in good faith to secure a deal for our pilots,” officials said.
