LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — According to a release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, more than 100 people were arrested or cited during a four-day human trafficking operation.
Police said the operation targeted sex buyers with undercover female detectives, leading to 18 arrests and citations. That number represents an increase from the 15 arrests and citations at the same time in 2024.
In another operation, police said detectives posed as individuals “appearing to engage in commercial sex” and were approached by traffickers for recruitment. 14 arrests were made in that operation, an increase from 6 in 2024.
Additionally, an undercover operation reached 78 people engaging in commercial sex.
“Representatives from Rise/Signs of Hope, and a Vice Victim Advocate were present to engage these individuals,” a news release stated. “This collaborative effort is aimed at offering supportive services and an opportunity to disclose victimization or request assistance outside of the law enforcement process.”
In total, 115 arrests and citations were made, police said, representing an 11.6% increase from 2024. The operations took place between Nov. 19 and Nov. 22.
Law enforcement advised anyone who is or knows a victim of human trafficking to contact RISE Advocate Hotline at 702-936-4004 or the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 888-373-7888.
