LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — An American flag suspended across the Hoover Dam has survived through winds and a tear.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said the flag is 300 feet wide and 150 feet tall. It was unveiled on Memorial Day with Nevada and Las Vegas valley leaders present.

Days after the unveiling, the flag was lowered due to windy conditions. Wednesday, the flag was removed for repairs after an unexpected tear.

According to a social media post, the American Flag is back on display. Officials say the lighting display will continue nightly through July 4, lighting the Hoover Dam and surrounding canyon walls at dusk.

Officials say the top of the dam and Memorial Bridge walkways will remain open until 10 p.m. nightly.

Officials say there is still a chance the flag could be lowered in response to high winds if necessary.
