LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Clark County School District is launching a new initiative in an effort to curb chronic absenteeism.

According to officials, the “Bright Futures” initiative will utilize help from community volunteers to go door-to-door and offer students who are chronically absent the resources they need to re-engage them with their schools.

CCSD is recruiting volunteers to go door-to-door on Monday, Feb. 2, and Tuesday, Feb. 3. The two events are being referred to as “Bright Future Walks”. Each walk is expected to last about 2 hours.

“We are calling on the community to help us reach these students who may be facing barriers that prevent them from coming to school,” said CCSD Superintendent Jhone Ebert. “Together, we can provide the support they need so they can continue on a path to a bright future.”

Officials say they hope this helps break barriers to reconnect students to their school with a stronger sense of belonging.
