LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A motorcyclist died after running a red light at an east Las Vegas intersection, Nevada State Police said.
According to a media release, the crash happened Feb. 3 just before 2 p.m. at northbound Boulder Highway and I-11 southbound off-ramp. The motorcyclist was identified as Maikol Antonio Mendez Simo, 23 of Las Vegas. A 2016 Nissan Altima was also involved, but police did not identify a driver.
Police said Simo rode through the intersection on a red light and hit the Altima. He died at the scene.
Police say this investigation is being conducted by the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol – Major Incident Reconstruction Team. The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Southern Command has investigated 9 fatal crashes resulting in 9 fatalities since 2026.
