LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Henderson Police released new details and video footage today following a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred last week near Wigwam and Valle Verde.
Officers responded to a 911 call from a woman who reported that her ex-boyfriend, recently released from jail, was holding her against her will.
Body camera footage shows the victim running from a residence while the suspect chased her with a knife.

According to police, 44-year-old Fabian Leon was shot and killed after he reached into his pocket and grabbed an item that appeared to be a gun. Officials confirmed that Leon was armed with a kitchen knife and an L-shaped metal object at the time of the shooting.
Victim Speaks Out
Yvonne Albarado, who has now publicly identified herself, returned to Henderson Police headquarters today to thank the officers who saved her life. She arrived with her puppies—the same dogs Leon had threatened to boil before threatening to kill her.
“It has been a week since we spoke. How have you been?” I asked.
“It’s been hard. This morning I was actually depressed, crying, sleeping,” Albarado responded. “I wanted to be here only because there are women right now accepting jail calls, getting manipulated, in violation of restraining orders. They need to not accept those calls. They need to understand these men will never change.”
Questions About the System
Albarado revealed that Leon was released from jail on January 27, and the protective order she had against him was dissolved. She said she was in court when the judge made the decision.
“I was shocked that the judge released him. I couldn’t believe it. That’s why I’m going to work my best in getting that law changed,” Albarado said. “By the time those victims finally get to the point where we are not going to listen to the abuser, then to see the judge didn’t implement the punishment…”
She added, “These officers that were put in a position to save my life wouldn’t have been in a position to take a life.”
A Message for Other Victims
Albarado is taking her recovery day by day but remains determined to help other domestic violence victims. Her message to those in similar situations: “Let the first time be the last time.”
“There are women out there who need to know they can get out,” she said.
Investigation Ongoing
The four officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation, which is standard protocol for officer-involved shootings.
FOX5 was first to report the suspect’s identity and bring viewers the victim’s account of what happened.
