Evidence at the scene and video of the collision indicated a grey 2014 Ram 2500 failed to maintain its travel lane after making a left turn from northbound Las Vegas Boulevard onto westbound Sahara Avenue. The right wheels of the truck drove up onto the north sidewalk of Sahara Avenue and continued westbound.
The right front of the Ram struck a bus shelter 200 feet west of the intersection, where a pedestrian was located. The pedestrian was thrown westbound from the bus shelter and onto the roadway.
The Ram failed to remain at the scene of the collision and fled westbound on Sahara Avenue.
The pedestrian was then transported to UMC Trauma by ambulance, where her injuries were determined to be potentially life-threatening.
The Ram and its driver were later located north of the collision location. The driver displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for driving under the influence and hit-and-run related charges.
The collision remains under investigation.
