LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Over 800 customers are without power due to a downed pole Monday morning in the northwest valley, according to NV Energy’s outage map.
This comes as the valley was under a High Wind Warning starting Sunday afternoon and is expected to continue until 11 a.m.
As of 6:30 a.m., 885 customers in the 89108 zip code are affected by one outage located near Washington and Jones. The cause is listed to be a downed pole or power line, though an estimated time of restoration is still unclear.
FOX5 also received viewer video Sunday showing a downed power line that fell onto a nearby house on Euclid Street, near Harmon and Eastern. The homeowner, who spoke with FOX5, blames the pole for setting his house on fire.
The pole was repaired early Monday morning, and power has been restored to the area.
A ground delay was briefly in place at Harry Reid Airport overnight, but has since been lifted. Additionally, two EDC stages were shut down during peak winds but reopened to festival goers around 11 p.m. According to officials, this year’s stages have been built shorter to accommodate the high winds.
A planned power outage due to high wildfire risk is also underway for some residents of Mt. Charleston. Around 412 customers are expected to be without power in Angel Peak and Kyle Canyon until around 9 a.m.
FOX5 has reached out to NV Energy to learn more about each outage.
