LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A driver is dead after a fiery crash in northwest Las Vegas, police say.
Officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the crash happened at Oso Blanca Road, south of Kyle Canyon Road, just before midnight on the Fourth of July. Police said the driver was in a 2020 Ford Fusion, his age unknown.
Evidence, according to police, suggests he sped northbound on Oso Blanca and failed to follow a curve in the roadway. Police say he left the road to the right, struck a raised dirt berm, and overturned.
Police said the car landed on the driver’s side. The crash caused the car to catch fire, which was eventually put out. Police said emergency medical services arrived and said the driver died at the scene.
Police say his death marks the 58th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for 2026.
The crash remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.
