LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Reno resident has filed a complaint against Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo over a traffic stop in Las Vegas.
Body camera footage showed Lombardo pulled over by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on May 15. A sergeant on video said the stop was for allegedly committing a red-light violation near Mandalay Bay.
“The reason I’m stopping you is for the red light violation back there — your right turn onto Giles here,” the sergeant says.

Lombardo identifies himself during the stop, saying, “I’m Joe Lombardo.” The sergeant responds, “I’m aware,” and then tells him, “You’re good to go, sir, appreciate you. Have a good day.”
The complaint, submitted July 17, says Lombardo interrupted the officer in the performance of his duties, and the governor’s behavior was “unbecoming of a public official. ”
The complaint says Lombardo intimidated the officer, and it accuses him of unlawfully using his position to secure and obtain “privileges, preferences, exemptions and advantages for his personal benefit. ” The complaint says it’s a direct violation of NRS 281A.400(2).

The governor’s campaign released the following statement about the incident.
“Two months ago, Governor Lombardo and his wife were briefly pulled over on their way to the airport by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department over a question about whether Governor Lombardo had come to a complete stop while turning. Governor Lombardo spoke with the officer, fully complied with all instructions, and was promptly on his way. He remains grateful for the professionalism of the officer involved and for the service of law enforcement officers across Nevada.”
FOX5 has reached out to Lombardo’s office for a response to the complaint.
