LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The man being assisted by two state troopers before a second drunk driver struck and killed them, has agreed to spend 10 days in jail on DUI charges.
On the morning of Nov. 30, two Nevada State Troopers – identified as Trooper Abbate and Trooper Felix – were conducting a “motor assist” on a driver who appeared to be asleep behind the wheel of a black Jeep Wagon on I-15, near D Street.
During the assist, a second vehicle – driven by Jemarcus Williams – struck the two troopers before fleeing the scene. He was later located and arrested by LVMPD officers, who also discovered one of the trooper’s badges in his vehicle, according to an arrest report.
Following the collision, a report from LVMPD noted that a third officer had to “wake him up to get him out of the vehicle.”
Officers at the scene observed an open 24-ounce can of Pacifico Cerveza sitting in the center cup holder, which is 4.4% alcohol by volume. Pacheco told officers that he was at a work party at Planet Hollywood.
Officers also noted that Pacheco “had a strong odor of alcohol coming from him”, “an unsteady gait”, and “had to lean on the patrol vehicle to keep his balance.”
He was then placed under arrest for DUI.
According to court documents, Guillermo Pacheco has agreed to a plea deal that will include a $910 fine, DUI School, and 10 days in jail.
