The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision. Despite an intensive air and ground search conducted by NHP, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and the California Highway Patrol, the vehicle remains outstanding.
Five people were injured in the secondary collision and transported to area hospitals. One patient was airlifted by Life Flight helicopter due to the severity of their injuries, while four others were taken by ground ambulances.
Southbound I-15 remains closed as environmental cleanup crews work to clear a large diesel spill leaking from the damaged Clark County fire truck.
All southbound traffic is being diverted off the highway at the Jean exit off-ramp (Exit 12).
Motorists traveling between Las Vegas and Southern California are strongly advised to avoid the area and utilize alternate routes.
