LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department will receive $67,983 through the Nevada Off-Highway Vehicles Program’s OHV Enforcement Grant, part of more than $912,000 awarded statewide to 13 projects promoting safe, responsible and sustainable off-road recreation.
The OHV Program received 14 applications requesting more than $1.17 million in funding. Following a competitive review process, the Nevada Commission on Off-Highway Vehicles approved $912,917.86 for the projects.
Statewide funding
The approved funding includes off-road site stewardship and youth education, OHV law enforcement and safety initiatives, improved signage at staging areas, and the creation of a new naturalist trail on Ward Mountain near Ely.
“It’s great to see OHV registration money going back into the Nevada offroad community,” said Kaden Barmore, Off-Highway Vehicles Program Manager. “The Commission funded some great projects.”

Funding source
The money comes from OHV registration fees. The Nevada OHV Program is housed within the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
