LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A registered sex offender was sentenced Tuesday to more than 10 years in federal prison for distributing and possessing child sexual abuse material on a peer-to-peer network, federal authorities announced.
Jimmy Franklin Dearman was sentenced to 121 months in prison, to be followed by 10 years of supervised release. Under the federal Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, Dearman will also be required to keep his sex offender registration current.
Dearman previously pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

According to federal court documents, Dearman had five digital devices containing more than 1,600 images and 242 videos of child sexual abuse material, depicting children as young as infants. He used a peer-to-peer network to make 239 of those files available for download to other users, successfully distributing at least 39 files.
“The exploitation of children is a heinous crime that leaves lasting trauma on the most vulnerable members of our society,” First Assistant United States Attorney Sigal Chattah said in a statement. “This sentence reflects our unwavering commitment to holding predators accountable and removing them from our communities.”
Special Agent in Charge Christopher S. Delzotto of the FBI Las Vegas Field Office said the sentencing underscores the bureau’s relentless commitment to investigating and prosecuting those who target minors.
“Let today’s sentencing underscore the FBI’s commitment to collaborating with law enforcement partners to combat individuals who target minors,” Delzotto said. “It should also serve as a clear warning to potential predators that the FBI is relentless in locating them and ensuring they face justice behind bars.”
