LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Nevada DMV’s registration spotter system has logged roughly 50,000 reports since it launched in 2024, according to the DMV.
The system allows people to spot and report cars with no plates or registration.
Reports climbed quickly after launch
The DMV said it received 5,000 reports within a few weeks of the system’s launch. Almost two years later, that number is around 50,000.

The DMV’s chief of compliance said the information collected through the system is shared with law enforcement.
The DMV said the number of reports has tapered off but remains an issue.
Clark County leads reports statewide
Statewide, Clark County had the most reports, accounting for 85% of stolen or unregistered vehicles reported.
The DMV’s compliance division said there could be a number of reasons for the reports. The division said it has tried to make it easier to register a vehicle through kiosks and online services.
