NEVADA (FOX5) — Nevada State Parks will offer free entry, camping and boating at all locations Saturday, September 26, to mark National Public Lands Day.
Visitors who have already made a reservation will receive an automatic refund for their park entry and camping fees, when applicable. No action is required to receive the refund.
National Public Lands Day was established in 1994 by the National Environmental Education Foundation. The day brings together volunteers, park staff and visitors across the country to celebrate and care for public lands.

Park events across the state
Several parks will hold special events for National Public Lands Day.
Spooner Lake State Park will reopen its west-side backcountry September 26 following two years of closures tied to the repair of Marlette Dam. The Flume Trail, North Canyon Road, Marlette Lake and other destinations will return to normal operation. Hobart Reservoir and surrounding trails will remain closed while project work continues.
Ice Age Fossils State Park will host a Coffee Talk program starting at 9 a.m., where park staff will discuss the park and its fossil resources.
Fort Churchill State Historic Park will hold a Night Hike through the historic site and surrounding landscape starting at 6:30 p.m. Registration is required by calling (775) 577-2345.
Spring Mountain Ranch State Park will host a volunteer cleanup from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Volunteers will help clean up the park’s group use area.
Participants in programs should bring long pants, closed-toed shoes, sun protection and water. Event details, schedules and additional information are available on their website.
