LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Acclaimed chef Kwame Onwuachi was awarded the ceremonial Key to the Las Vegas Strip on Thursday, recognizing his growing mark on Southern Nevada’s dining scene.
Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom presented the honor to the James Beard Award-winning chef during a ceremony outside Maroon, Onwuachi’s Afro-Caribbean steakhouse at SAHARA Las Vegas.

The ceremonial presentation highlighted Onwuachi’s contributions to the local culinary landscape following Maroon’s debut at the resort earlier this year.
The recognition came ahead of a sold-out Las Vegas stop on Onwuachi’s nationwide book tour celebrating his latest cookbook, “All Hours: Crazy Good Food for Whatever, Whenever.”
Following the key presentation, Maroon hosted a special multicourse dinner featuring dishes drawn directly from the new cookbook. Guests sampled recipes highlighting Onwuachi’s signature blend of Afro-Caribbean flavors and global culinary influences while meeting with the chef throughout the evening.
