LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Clark County Commissioner William McCurdy II will host a ceremony at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign next week.
The event will kick off Latino Heritage Month celebrations throughout Clark County on Monday, Sept. 28 at 5 p.m.
“Latino Heritage Month gives us a chance to pause and honor the generations of Latino families who have helped build Clark County into the community it is today,” McCurdy said. “From small businesses to public service, the contributions of our Latino residents are woven into the fabric of everything we do here in Southern Nevada.”

The event will feature the lighting of the sign in yellow. A local organization will also be recognized for its service to the Latino community.
Latino Heritage Month is observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. It celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
Latinos represent approximately 32% of Clark County’s population.
The ceremony is part of Clark County’s Latino Heritage Month events, which run throughout September and October. All events are free and open to the public.
