LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A male was stabbed three times following a verbal turned physical altercation with a female during a 5th grade promotion ceremony at Wendell Williams Elementary School.

Clark County School District Police Department Lieutenant Bryan Zink told FOX5 that the female faces battery and assault charges with a deadly weapon on top of disturbing a school. The male was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was then released.

He confirmed with us that the male and female share one common child.

The stabbing incident happened around 10:50 a.m. Zink said the two had a verbal altercation inside the cafeteria where the ceremony was occurring and then later turned physical outside in a quad area.

The school was under a hard lockdown that cued both CCSD Police and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The school district has confirmed that there is no threat to students or staff at this time. A fifth-grade promotion ceremony has been postponed as a result.

CCSDPD will be handling the investigation into the incident, which is ongoing.

Zink said that they have a list of students who may have witnessed the event and they are providing the students with resources.
