LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – An inmate who walked away from a Nevada Department of Corrections worksite was recaptured on Memorial Day, according to NDOC officials.
Alan Woolard, 59, was reported missing Sunday morning after he didn’t return from his overnight shift, which had ended at 5 a.m. NDOC said they issued a retake warrant. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police took Woolard into custody at the intersection of McFarland and Lincoln in Indian Springs at about 4:05 p.m. Monday.
Woolard became an NDOC inmate in January of 2021, serving 12 to 60 months or possession of a firearm by a felon with a consecutive 24 to 60 months for grand larceny. NDOC said Woolard walked away from his post at Three Lakes Valley Conservation Camp.
According to NDOC, a work camp is a minimum-custody area where low-risk offenders live without secure fencing and are allowed to work off site. NDOC said they often operate as a transitional step for inmates.
