LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada State Police said a 29-year-old has been booked for suspicion of impaired driving for a crash that happened Sunday.
Police said the crash happened on June 9 overnight at 2:04 a.m. Police responded to the westbound off-ramp at the US95 and Lake Mead Boulevard.
Initial investigation by police revealed that a Nissan SUV had a driver and two passengers while traveling on US95 in the far right travel lane. Police said the driver attempted to exit onto the State Route 147 off-ramp.
Police said the Nissan was unable to maintain it’s travel lane and exited left into an unpaved area. The Nissan rotated clockwise and overturned.
“The driver of the Nissan, Risa Mattele Hannah, a 29-year-old female from Las Vegas, Nevada, was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was later arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on suspicion of impaired driving and other related charges,” police said.
One passenger, Jade Ashlee Hernandez, a 27-year-old female from Las Vegas, Nevada, died on scene. A second passenger, an adult female, was sent to a nearby hospital with “serious injuries.”
Police said both passengers were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
“The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Southern Command has investigated 29 fatal crashes resulting in 36 fatalities,” police said. “2024 fatalities data is preliminary and may change/be updated based on final investigation and coroner reports.”
