SACRAMENTO, Calif. (FOX5) — Shea Langeliers and Nick Kurtz will represent the Oakland Athletics at the 2026 MLB All-Star Game in Philadelphia on July 14.

Langeliers was elected by fans as the American League’s starting catcher, while Kurtz was selected by players. The A’s have now had multiple players selected to the All-Star Game in consecutive years for the first time since 2018 and 2019. Jacob Wilson and Brent Rooker represented the club at the 2025 All-Star Game.

Langeliers earns first All-Star start

Langeliers is the first A’s catcher to start the All-Star Game since Terry Steinbach in 1989. Among MLB catchers, he ranks second in home runs (20) and hits (87), third in slugging percentage (.494) and extra-base hits (36), tied third in doubles (16), fourth in OPS (.822), and fifth in on-base percentage (.328).

Langeliers has hit 20 or more home runs in four consecutive seasons, joining Khris Davis as the only A’s players to accomplish that in the last 20 years.

Kurtz builds off historic rookie season

Kurtz is the fourth A’s first baseman selected to the All-Star Game since 2000, joining Matt Olson (2021), Yonder Alonso (2017), and Jason Giambi (2000 and 2001). He is also the first A’s first baseman selected since Olson in 2021.

Kurtz leads MLB in RBI (66) and walks (76). He ranks second in on-base percentage (.424), tied second in runs scored (61), third in OPS (.949), and tied seventh in go-ahead RBI (15).

Kurtz won the American League Player of the Month award for May and was the unanimous 2025 American League Rookie of the Year.
