LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Officials with the Oakland A’s will meet this week with city and county officials to discuss a lease extension that could keep them playing in the Bay area until their new home in Las Vegas is built and ready.

Sources said that the A’s are meeting with Oakland city officials and Alameda County superiors later this week. The team’s current lease at the Coliseum expires after the upcoming 2024 season.

The new stadium at the site of the Tropicana is scheduled to open in 2028.

A new ballpark on the site of the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas is expected to be ready by 2028.
