LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Families packed the Atomic Museum Saturday for “STEM Saturday,” a free, hands-on science event for kids.
The Nevada National Security Site sponsored this month’s session, giving students a chance to learn about electromagnetism with simple, interactive experiments.
The first 60 kids received free admission for themselves and their families to tour the rest of the museum after the activities.

Organizers said the goal is to spark interest in STEM and local science history and to make it easy for parents to get their children excited about learning.
“They come in here, they learn, you know, new stuff and then they can go through the museum and see kind of, you know, how we all got here,” said Kenna Anderson, community engagement manager for the Nevada National Security Sites.
“We’re always excited to have the kids come out and enjoy science and have fun,” Anderson said.
Staff said the sessions are already filling up with waiting lists, a sign there’s a big appetite for hands-on science in the valley.
STEM Saturdays run the first Saturday of each month during the school year. Families can register through the NNSS Community Engagement page or on their website.
