LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A developer has pulled its proposal from a historic Las Vegas neighborhood after fierce pushback from neighbors.
Homeowners put up dozens of signs showing “lipstick on a pig” in neighborhoods near Rancho Drive and Alta Drive.
Blue Heron proposed 61 homes on 12 acres, showing a modern design. Neighbors argued the plan was not a fit for the neighborhood.

The developer notified the city of its withdrawal Wednesday but did not list a reason.
City officials say the developer can still resubmit the project or propose a new one if it chooses.
Blue Heron provided a statement to FOX5, saying, “Blue Heron has withdrawn its applications for the Alta and Campbell project. We appreciate the neighbors and City staff who took the time to engage with us. Blue Heron remains committed to Las Vegas and to pursuing opportunities to bring new homes to the city’s core.”
