LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Clark County School District is offering eligible families up to $1,000 to help cover transportation costs for the 2026-27 school year through a new open enrollment transportation reimbursement program.
To qualify, families must live in the zone of a one- or two-star school and use open enrollment to place their child in a three-, four- or five-star CCSD school that has available seats.
Superintendent Jhone Ebert said the goal is to allow parents to choose the school that works best for them and help offset the cost of getting there. The funding comes from a state grant approved by lawmakers and the governor and will be available only until those funds run out.

How the reimbursement works
Families can receive $500 at the end of each semester — up to $1,000 for the full year. To receive the reimbursement, families must:
- Live in a one- or two-star school zone
- Enroll their child in a three-star or higher school through open enrollment
- Complete the online financial-need form
- Ensure their student is not chronically absent — no more than 10 days missed per semester

Deadlines and how to apply
The open enrollment deadline is Friday, Aug. 21. Families have until Friday, Sept. 4, to apply for the transportation reimbursement.
