LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The city of Las Vegas is moving forward with a second phase of a study connected to the Huntridge Theater, a city staff member told the city’s Historic Preservation Commission Wednesday.
Jay Dapper, principal of Dapper Companies and developer of the theater, gave the commission an update on the property. Dapper confirmed his plan to move the theater to a nonprofit group called the Huntridge Conservatory. He also confirmed that no renovation work has taken place on the theater this year.

A commissioner asked whether the city has funded a second study. A city staff member confirmed that phase two was moving forward.
The staff member said the new study will be a broader look at cultural facilities and will provide the basis for a master plan for performance-based venues and the support system around them. Additionally, the study will include determining renovation costs.
Dapper said he expects the framework for the project to be finalized when phase two is complete. He said he does not have a timeline for the work. He said he plans to ask about it on a call scheduled for next week.
The covenants, or agreements, on the building will remain in place until the end of 2030, commissioners said, but possible discussions about extending them could take place in the future.
