LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Clark County School District Board of Trustees will discuss the process for hiring a new superintendent in a meeting Wednesday.

Former superintendent Dr. Jesus Jara officially resigned in February, following a tumultuous tenure with the school district. Dr. Brenda Larsen -Mitchell was appointed as interim superintendent.

26 of the district’s highest-performing schools were added to the Superintendent’s Honor Roll.

Trustees are expected to discuss national superintendent search trends and discuss what type of search they want to conduct. Trustees Lola Brooks and Linda Cavazos are also expected to discuss the search process from 2017/2018 that led to Jara’s hiring.

Jara was awarded a $250,000 buyout, or six-months salary, following his resignation.

The meeting will take place Wednesday at 4 p.m.
