LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Board of Clark County Commissioners and Clark County management will join Fire Chief Billy Samuels for a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Clark County Fire Training Center on Monday, May 18 at 3 p.m.

Under a contract for construction services, The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company will demolish the existing structures on the 6.26-acre site and construct a new facility with a premanufactured burn tower, a two-story training center and a maintenance building. Plans call for the construction of the new 8,400-square-foot Fire Station 88 and a multi-story parking garage.

The ceremony will take place at the Clark County Fire Department Training Center at 4425 West Tropicana Avenue, on the southwest corner of Tropicana Avenue and Arville. Chairman Michael Naft and the Board of Clark County Commissioners, Clark County Manager Kevin Schiller and county leadership, and current and retired Clark County Fire Department personnel will attend.

The facilities will be constructed on the site of the now-shuttered Clark County Fire Training Center, which opened in 1983 and has served hundreds of fire classes, from rookie school to engineer academies, and ongoing training for proficiency and best practices.

Estimated to be complete in 2028, the $93 million project will result in a new layout that will maximize the use of the 6.26 acres, providing space for training exercises and future expansion.
