LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — City of Henderson officials have reached a settlement with a local resident after his home was heavily damaged during a multi-day SWAT standoff with an armed suspect in April 2024.

On Tuesday, the Henderson City Council approved a $638,476.83 agreement with homeowner Aaron Baca, who filed a lawsuit against the city nearly two years after the incident.

Investigators say an FBI team and Henderson police were attempting to arrest a wanted suspect barricaded inside the home near Galleria Drive and Water Street.

The city said claims involving neighboring units have already been resolved, but Baca’s unit suffered extensive structural and interior damage, leaving it uninhabitable. City records also state that personal property inside the unit was damaged or destroyed.

The settlement covers repairs, replacement of personal belongings, and compensation for loss of use while Baca was displaced. Officials said $418,262 will go toward repairs and be managed through a third-party construction control account, $86,562.43 will cover personal property losses, and $50,000 will compensate Baca for loss of use.

Henderson Police Chief Reggie Rader also spoke at the meeting, outlining department changes made in the wake of the incident.
