NORTH LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Dancing chefs, hands-on gardening, and fresh produce took center stage in North Las Vegas over the weekend as local kids discovered that staying healthy can actually be fun.
Families gathered at the Pearson Community Center on Saturday, Sept. 26, for the University of Nevada, Reno Extension’s annual Healthy Kids Festival.

Geared toward children ages 3 to 11, the free community event featured hands-on gardening, chef demonstrations, a produce market, music, dancing, and a partnership with UNLV’s Nevada Institute for Children’s Research and Policy for its “Step Up for Kids” initiative.
Program officials also met with attendees to share practical guidance on establishing lifelong healthy habits and incorporating nutritious eating and physical activity into daily family routines.
