LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Early voting for the June primary begins May 23.
New voters in Nevada can register at vote.nv.gov . This election introduces a new feature allowing voters to receive text messages and track mail-in ballots through the voting process.
Registration requirements
“First we want to make sure that people are registered to vote. And they can go to vote.nv.gov to register to vote,” said Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar.
New voters should click the green new voter registration tab on the vote.nv.gov website. Voters without a driver’s license or identification card issued by the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles must register in person with their county election office or mail in a paper application. Applications are available on the same page.

Registered voters can update their registration, including address changes.
“Make sure that all your information is up to date, so the mail ballot gets to the appropriate place. But also, too, when you go to check-in in person, all your information is correct,” the Secretary of State said.
New ballot tracking system
The Nevada Secretary of State’s office is offering text messaging and mail ballot tracking this election. Voters can visit myballot.nv.gov to track their ballot through the entire voting process.
“You get a notification from the county that your ballot’s being sent. You get a notification that your ballot’s arrived in the mail, so you know to go check your mail and make sure that it’s there. And then once you have it, you can take the time you need to vote that ballot and then reverse it back and get those notifications and get to know that the county actually has your ballot in their possession and that it’s been processed,” the Secretary of State said.
Tracking a ballot at myballot.nv.gov shows where the ballot is in the process. When registering or updating registration, voters can enter their cell phone number for text message updates.
The primary election is Tuesday, June 9.
