LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A mural titled “Electric Desert” is progressing at a parking garage in the Las Vegas Arts District that has not yet opened to the public.
Painting began Sunday, with artists working from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. to avoid the heat. The mural was commissioned through a selection process. It was narrowed to three finalists, who then submitted designs.
Victoria Hart, the artist behind the mural and creative owner of Pink Kitty Creative, said her design was selected from that panel.

Artist behind the piece
Hart is originally a graphic designer and is responsible for creating the City of Las Vegas logo — her first piece for the city. The “Electric Desert” mural is her second work for the city
Hart said the reality of painting during extended periods of time was a difficult idea, so she partnered with ISI Group to carry out the overnight painting sessions.

Hart said it has been an honor to see her work around the Arts District, where she said art has flourished over the past few years.
The mural is anticipated to be complete on Aug. 15.
