LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Clark County’s Emergency Shelter at the Las Vegas Convention Center will close Friday after power was almost fully restored across the valley.

Tuesday, a dust storm and severe thunderstorm warning hit the Las Vegas Valley with 64 mph-record gusts recorded at valley airports. The rain and high winds tore down power poles that left a peak of 30,000 NV Energy customers without power.

According to the power company’s website, only two customers are without power as of 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Some cars were trapped under the poles at Tropicana and McLeod. FOX5 revisited the area Friday and the poles and cars have cleared from the streets, but the road is still closed.

FOX5 is looking to see when the road will reopen. Officials previously said full restoration of Tropicana Avenue is expected around 2 p.m. Friday.

As for the shelter, Clark County said at 10 a.m. Friday 37 people including two dogs and one cat have returned home. The cooling sites are also no longer active.

“Thank you to our regional partners for quickly working to support the impacted residents with particular acknowledgement for the LVCVA, Red Cross, and RTC,” Clark County said. “Clark County Parks and Recreation, Social Services, and Animal Protection Services provided needed support to those affected as well.”
