LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A former Bishop Gorman basketball star and UNLV recruit returned to Las Vegas this weekend following his time served for a crash that killed a man in 2020.

Zaon Collins now plays for Salt Lake Community College, who faced College of Southern Nevada Saturday. SLCC won the game 102-74.

Collins served a 90-day sentence at Clark County Detention Center in connection with a deadly crash on Dec. 30, 2020. The crash resulted in the death of 52-year-old Eric Echevarria. Collins served time for felony reckless driving and vehicular manslaughter.

Collins was 19 at the time of the crash and was set to play at UNLV when he was rejected from the program. Authorities said that Collins’ level of THC in his blood was approximately 50% over the legal limit at the time of the crash.
