LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Bureau of Land Management has moved forward with the Mosey Solar Project, a 500-megawatt solar energy facility with battery storage planned for public land in Clark and Nye counties, Gov. Joe Lombardo announced Wednesday.
The project site spans approximately 3,523 acres of BLM-managed land located about 10 miles southeast of Pahrump, 30 miles west of Las Vegas and 2 miles south of State Route 160.
The Mosey Solar Project will provide 500 megawatts of solar energy generation paired with battery storage. A megawatt is a unit of electrical power — 500 megawatts is enough capacity to power hundreds of thousands of homes, depending on usage.

Mosey Solar is the fifth major solar project to advance through the BLM permitting process in Nevada since December 2025. The others are Libra Solar, Boulder Solar III, Dry Lake East and Purple Sage. Together, the five projects represent nearly 2 gigawatts of new renewable energy generation capacity.
“I want to thank the Energy Dominance Council and the Department of the Interior for advancing the Mosey Solar Project and continuing to work with us on responsible energy development in Nevada,” Lombardo said. “Expanding Nevada’s energy capacity is essential to supporting our state’s continued growth. This 500-megawatt renewable power project will strengthen our energy grid, create good-paying jobs, and deliver lasting economic benefits to southern Nevada.”
James Humm, director of the Nevada Governor’s Office of Energy, said the project advances the state’s goal of diversifying its energy supply.
“Nevada’s economy depends on reliable, affordable energy to support new businesses, a growing workforce, and continued investment in our communities,” Humm said. “The advancement of the Mosey Solar Project is another important step towards further diversifying our energy portfolio.”
