LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A global non-profit and a well-known animal expert are making felines the focus during a two-day training session for Las Vegas Valley animal shelters and rescue groups.
“Greater Good Charities” and Jackson Galaxy, Animal Planet’s resident cat wellness expert, kicked off the educational event Monday in collaboration with the Nevada SPCA.
The workshops focus on adoption counseling, feline body language, and well as some of the challenges uniquely cat behaviors can pose, with the ultimate goal being finding forever homes for more of them.
“If you have a cat then you know how hard it is to deal with their cat behaviors they are kind of a different breed amongst themselves and cats are not just little dogs,” says Anthony Pease, the Chief Veterinary Officer for the Viticus Group. “So what we have done is worked with 20 to 30 rescues, all the way from Reno to our local charities here, and they are going to be learning how to deal with animals, how to best address cats and their special needs.”
This is a nationwide initiative. The training sessions will make stops in Texas, Maryland, Alabama, and beyond.
