LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A witness list has been released in the trial of a Canadian man accused of stealing and abusing a flamingo from its enclosure at a Las Vegas Strip casino.

In total, 28 people could be called to the stand. Those include police, hotel staff from the Flamingo, the wildlife curator for the hotel, and a veterinarian who specializes in birds.

Police say surveillance video from March shows Mitchell Fairbarn cornering several flamingos at an exhibit, grabbing one and taking it back to his hotel room.

Fairbarn told police he was drunk and wanted to pop a flamingo’s wing back into place.

His trial is expected to start Oct. 12.
