LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Washoe County Commissioner Alexis Hill says she is focusing on holding corporations and billionaires accountable in her gubernatorial race.
Hill is running for governor in the Democratic primary. She said Nevadans are demanding and deserve change.
“Our communities, they don’t need a handout, but they need opportunity,” Hill said. “And it’s so hard to make it in this state when you are competing against billionaires and corporations who aren’t even properly taxed.”
Hill said she is running because she loves the state and believes in its communities.
Corporate accountability
Hill said the state needs a governor who is not just listening to special interests or supported by special interests.
She said she wants to bring change and hold people accountable, including corporations who are taking advantage of everyday Nevadans.
“We needed a governor who is not just listening to special interests, not just supported by special interests, who actually wants to bring change and hold people accountable,” Hill said.
Investment priorities
Hill said she wants to invest in communities, schools and health care while ensuring the state has great paying jobs.
She said she has a plan for all of that and is ready to get to work for Nevadans on day one.
“I am ready to get to work for Nevadans,” Hill said.
Democratic primary
Hill said she is the only candidate in the Democratic primary that can beat Joe Lombardo.
She said polls show it and Nevadans want a new person to lead the state because they see that things are not working.
“The status quo is not okay,” Hill said. “We are struggling as a state and we need a governor who actually wants to invest in Nevadans every day.”
Hill said she loves the state and believes she would be the best leader for Nevada.
