LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Drivers should expect lane restrictions on West Lake Mead Boulevard starting June 1 as crews begin Intelligent Transportation System improvements between Buffalo Drive and Rancho Drive.
According to the city of Las Vegas, the project is scheduled to continue through September 2026. The work includes installing wiring, fiber-optic cables, pull boxes and closed-circuit television cameras, along with other equipment needed for the upgrades, city officials said.

City officials say construction is set to begin at Buffalo Drive and move east. Lane restrictions will shift as work progresses. Work hours are planned from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, depending on weather. Intersection work will take place overnight between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m., with additional hours possible.
Lane restrictions are expected to primarily affect the outside lane on the north side of Lake Mead Boulevard, which carries westbound traffic. Additional lane closures are anticipated at intersections that cross Lake Mead Boulevard. Officials recommend Smoke Ranch Road as an alternate route.
According to city officials, Las Vegas Electric is the contractor on the project. The estimated cost is $2,846,348, funded by the Regional Transportation Commission and federal dollars.
