LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Clark County grand jury has indicted a driver on over a dozen charges after a police chase ended with an trooper-involved shooting that killed the man’s passenger.
Sean Shirazi, 45, was formally charged last week in connection with the June 10 incident that began near Las Vegas Boulevard and Interstate 11.
According to court documents, two troopers with Nevada State Police attempted to stop Shirazi, who was driving a Toyota 4Runner. The indictment alleges he was driving under the influence.
Rather than stopping, Shirazi fled from the troopers. During the confrontation, investigators say Shirazi drove his vehicle directly towards one of the troopers, pinning him against a fire truck.

That trooper would then discharged his firearm into the vehicle, fatally striking Shirazi’s passenger, identified by the Clark County Coroner as Corrine Barnes.
Authorities note that Shirazi also rammed another vehicle, injuring the occupant before fleeing the scene. He was later apprehended by police at a local hospital.
Shirazi is facing 15 counts including one count of second-degree murder and two counts of battery & assault with use of a deadly weapon on a first responder.
He is due back in court on Wednesday.
